About Us

Let’s make your workplace safer for everyone

Waking Up Workplace Trainings offers webinars and E-Learning courses on how to prevent drug and alcohol substance abuse in the workplace through early identification and reasonable cause suspicion training.

Whether your company employs 2 or 2,000, we can help you implement practical and hands-on techniques for expanding your performance management assessment and review systems as they relate to drug and alcohol substance abuse in your workplace.

We are an international training company offering our courses in English through our E-Learning platform. Courses can also be delivered in Spanish and French through on-line facilitation with advanced notification.

Who are we?

We are a training company passionate about the reduction of workplace substance abuse.

We deliver information that draws from the fields of psychology, neuro-science, neuro-biology, human resource occupational training and addiction counselling. By incorporating information from these diverse fields, we believe that our courses can engage active participation from our students.

Together, we can change the attitudes and behaviours towards the use and abuse of drugs in the workplace. This refers to all drugs, from recreational to medical usage.

Unchecked, drug and alcohol abuse in the workplace can and does lead to safety issues that compromise the safety of everyone in the workplace.

Waking Up Workplace Trainings is a NAID* (National Association for Information Destruction) associate vendor.

* Our courses fulfill the requirements for NAID audit item 1.3

Our Vision:

We believe that when everyone delivers his or her personal best, a synergy is created with others that unlocks a stronger drive to excellence, creative solutions, and an openness to new possibilities.

This can only occur when bridges are built between people that

recognize and respect individual differences,

while still working towards the achievement of common goals, desires, and the broader expansion of a win-win attitude.

Vijay Basdeo

President & Program Director

Vijay is passionate about spreading the educational elements of the issue of substance abuse in the workplace, as it is still widely ignored but has enormous consequences to our communities and to our economy. As a project development consultant, Vijay has been involved in the creation and delivery of informational DVD’s for Canadian companies that address work related drug and alcohol substance abuse and misuse.

Vijay brings a diverse and highly expert set of skills to the courses that she creates for Waking Up Workplace Trainings. Her professional background includes over 25 years of simultaneous involvement in two very different arenas: that of the project logistics industry that arranges and transports oil rigs, sawmills and general merchandise worldwide, and as a counsellor and workshop leader for personal development and self-transformation seminars.

She has been a consultant in all aspects of international transportation in all modes of carriage, customs regulations, trade and commerce. As a workshop leader and lecturer, she brings her unique understanding of work-related stresses demanded by project driven critical time constraints, and the resulting performance anxiety which occurs and can affect a business’s daily operations.

She is a dynamic trainer who delivers her workshops in an engaging and powerfully persuasive manner, with tips, innovative tools, techniques and solutions that can encourage shifts in perceptions that produce lasting changes for her participants.

Vijay is a great advocate of “a call to action” type of trainings. She has worked and lived in Eastern and Western Canada and has traveled extensively overseas to set up associate agencies for her companies.

Vijay was the owner and director of Innerlink Training Seminars, a company that focuses on Personal Development and Corporate trainings that develop management and communication skills. She works exclusively with the self-assessment tools development by the internationally recognized CRG International (Consulting Resource Group International Inc) a Canadian based company. World wide use of these unique training systems is recognized and acknowledged by many leading corporations as being intrinsic to their growth and success. As a licensed associate of CRG, Vijay has the ability and expertise to develop and customize training programs specific to a company’s needs and requirements.

Vijay is a certified trainer and facilitator for Fred Pryor Seminars—a North American Management Training Organization.
