Waking up to a safer workplace

It is my pleasure to recommend Vijay Basdeo as an excellent tutor of disciplines of drug prevention in a business context. Our company has been NAID certified since 2008 and during that time we have had several opportunities to work with Vijay on establishing comprehensive inhouse knowledge about drug prevention. Her teaching reflects deep understanding and experience of the subject as well as insight into human behaviour and difficulties. I admire her for her candour and interest in helping others as well as the extra effort she puts into her work.

I completed the course this morning. Overall I found the content informative and the presentation engaging. The language was clear, the information ably delivered, and the organization of the material logical. My initial reaction was a profoundly subjective one — I wish I’d been exposed to a course like this when I was a manager as it would have been helpful in establishing a productive work environment in which the individual traits of employees could have been put to good use, and issues involving their behaviour dealt with sensibly in accordance with the sound precepts set out here. I feel the course is overall quite solid.”

I found the course to be very informative and would recommend it to all companies thinking about the care of their staff. I know only too well the minefield that this area can be and having completed the course and been made aware of the pitfalls, I now feel that I have the knowledge to help both my company and colleagues. The course is very well laid out and is easy to follow. The questions are thought provoking and relevant. I would like to thank V and the gang for all their assistance.”

Waking Up Trainings was great for my company. With your help, we were able to train my company to recognize substance abuse as required for NAID certification. Your interactive program was informative and being online, we were able to work around our schedules.

Taking the training myself with my employees was a great way to open dialogue within my company. I think this training program will help all of the Rocycle employees to be able to better understand and manage any substance issues that could potentially arise.

I received wonderful feedback from the employees on the training. It was engaging and informative.

Thank you for the great service you provide!”

I really enjoyed how easy the website was to navigate. The tabs on the side are clearly laid out and respond quickly. As I had mentioned on the phone, some of the information seemed repetitive, however it really brought the points home on the important topics to help you remember them well after the quizzes had ended. I understand that everyone learns at different paces so this is a really helpful tool. I have done online modules for previous jobs in the past, and the features for advancing through the course made it easy.

All in all, it was a very smooth process that I was able to complete whenever I had time.”

I recently went through the Waking Up Workplace Trainings course on substance abuse taught by Vijay. The course was very informative and provided new insights into many tough issues that are too often overlooked in the workplace.

In college, as the president of my fraternity, I had to go through annual substance abuse training. I was originally upset that the format of the course wasn’t a self paced online course that I could just simply click through given my previous knowledge of the material. That being said, I gave it a shot anyway and I am glad that I did. While a good portion of the material was a refresher from my previous trainings there was quite a bit that I had never heard before in four years of classes. The guided lecture approach taken also facilitates questions that would go unanswered in a click through online class.

The class was taught in a very professional but easy going manner that is great for learning a lot of material. Vijay was great to learn from and I will definitely be doing all continued training through her as well as recommending her course to anyone who is looking.”

In preparing for my annual NAID re-certification, I came across a wonderful training resource from a company called Waking Up Workplace Trainings Inc. It always had been a challenge to find a NAID approved trainer to come to my business and teach the Substance Abuse Recognition for Supervisors training; moreover, it was expensive. Waking Up Workplace Training Inc. was able to make this part of the NAID re-certification process less painful. I attended the training through an audio conference in the comfort of my office.

Dealing with Waking Up Workplace Training Inc. was a pleasure. Vijay Basdeo, the president of the company, was responsive and accommodating to my schedule and needs. She facilitated my training with all the flair of a master pedagogue: she had mastered her subject — and was both lucid and engaging throughout. I found the unit on Drug Identity and Symptomology fascinating and feel that I am now a better-informed manager. There is no doubt that next year I will return to Waking Up Workplace Training Inc. for my annual refresher training certification. Thanks Vijay!”

I work in the retail industry, and I believe this course is a MUST for employers to take. In retail we tend to get so busy with seasonal sales and advertising, that we tend to forget to pay close attention to what is going on with our employees. This course is a critical eye opener for any employer – in any industry.”

Until I attended this course, I had no idea about the changes in the legal obligations of small companies under BC Regulatory bodies. This course covered the financial and possible criminal consequences of not having a working Substance Abuse Policy Guideline in place and having everyone aware of its existence and what it means.”

I learned a lot in this course. The section on what mistakes to avoid when working with my staff was especially helpful to me. I would give this course a score of a perfect 10. Ms. Basdeo was knowledgeable even about some Korean laws and regulations and tied it into the training in a smooth and easy to follow manner.

I found Vijay Basdeo to be very knowledgeable about the topic (she has a wealth of personal work experience and is an energetic presenter) and has compiled an excellent take-home resource that complemented the subject matter covered during the course. She even provided a one page agreement for dealing with contractors. $450.00 sounds like a bargain if this course can save an employer thousands of dollars.”

I would like to thank you for developing and facilitating substance abuse training once again for our Canadian Supervisors and Managers. With your help, we were successful in training 116 Iron Mountain employees. completion of this training allowed Iron Mountain to meet National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) requirements for substance abuse awareness training and maintain our NAID Certification in Canada.

This year, a majority of our employees participated in Level 2 training. The training continued to build upon the foundation of last year’s Level 1 training. I especially want to point out the unique leadership component that was incorporated into the training. It was extremely beneficial, and I received nothing but positive feedback from both the participants and the Human Resource Managers. I know the training has increased their understanding and ability to address substance abuse issues in the workplace.

Thanks again for all your hard work. I look forward to working with you again next year.
